Bertagne, France – The South Carolina trio of Ilona Burgrova, Lea Fabbri and Iva Sliskovic continued competition at the 2004 FIBA U-20 European Championships in prelimiary round pool play. The Czech Republic with Burgrova defeated Belgium 89-62 to remain tied in first place with a 3-1 record. Poland defeated Croatia, with Fabbri and Sliskovic, 75-71 to drop Croatia to 2-2 in pool play.

Burgrova scored 12 points and added eight rebounds in the win for the Czech Republic. She was 5-for-9 from the field and was one of five Czech players to score in double figures. Czech Republic plays on Wednesday night vs. Belgium, who is also 3-1 in pool play.

Croatia got a good outing from Fabbri and Sliskovic despite the loss. Sliskovic played 38 minutes and scored six points with five rebounds. Fabbri was 4-for-5 from the field with 9 points and a team-high three assists. Croatia (2-2) will face Spain (0-4) in the final pool play game on Wednesday afternoon.

The top two teams from each pool advance to the semifinals.
