Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina freshman midfielder Ashley Kirk has been named to the Soccer Buzz Southeast Region All-Freshman Team. Kirk, who shared SEC Freshman of the Year honors with Genna Gorman from Tennessee, is the first USC women’s soccer player since Jessica Julin in the 2000 season to be honored by Soccer Buzz. Lydia Bienias and Melinda Carter also earned All-Freshman honors from Soccer Buzz in 1998.

Kirk was consistent in the midfield in her first season wearing the garnet & black as she played in all 20 matches. She totaled one goal and four assists as a freshman with her one goal a game-winner for the Gamecocks in a 1-0 victory at Arkansas. Her total of four assists was second highest on the 2004 squad.
