Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team remains ranked 18th by Collegiate Baseball and 19th by Baseball America following a series victory over the Auburn Tigers at Sarge Frye Field. Carolina is 32-12 on the year with a 12-9 conference record. The Gamecocks travel to Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt vs. the Furman Paladins at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Carolina returns to conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Tennessee.

WEEKLY NOTES: South Carolina finished last week with a 2-1 record and a series victory over Auburn … Carolina is 32-12 for the season including 12-9 in the SEC, tied for fourth place overall and two games behind SEC leader Florida.

Head Coach Ray Tanner is closing in on another career milestone as he enters the week with a career record of 799-337-3, one short of his 800th career victory.

Junior RHP Brent Marsh made two appearances out of the bullpen this weekend earning a victory and a save in both wins over Auburn … Marsh is now 2-1 with 10 saves and a 1.52 ERA in 23 2/3 innings and a team-high 20 appearances … Marsh became the 10th pitcher in Carolina history to record 10 saves in a season.

Senior RHP Jason Fletcher worked five innings allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits in Sunday’s 8-7 victory over Auburn … Fletcher earned the victory and is now 5-3 on the year with a 3.06 ERA.

Senior RHP Zac McCamie finished with a no-decision in Saturday’s victory over Auburn … McCamie worked seven 1/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks allowed … McCamie is still 8-2 on the year with a 2.24 ERA as well as 86 strikeouts and just 27 walks allowed in a team-high 80 1/3 innings … The senior RHP has lasted at least five innings in each start he has made this year with a 4-2 record and 2.19 ERA in seven SEC starts.

Senior RHP Aaron Rawl made his 81st appearance as a pitcher at South Carolina and is now tied for fourth on the USC All-Time List with Kip Bouknight (1998-2001).

The Carolina pitching staff continues to shine with a team ERA of 3.27 in 391 innings pitched with 371 strikeouts and 125 walks allowed and 352 hits allowed this season.

South Carolina rallied for its first ninth inning comeback victory in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Tigers … Down one run, Tommy King had a two-out single, Joey Friddle a two-out walk and Michael Campbell a RBI single to right field with Friddle scoring on a throwing error by Auburn right fielder Clete Thomas … Campbell’s RBI single was his 200th career hit at South Carolina … Campbell has 201 career hits after Sunday’s game and is tied for 18th on the USC All-Time Career List.

South Carolina recorded 16 hits in Sunday’s win vs. Auburn, the most hits in a game for the Gamecocks since April 2 in a win over Georgia … The Gamecocks belted three home runs in Sunday’s victory over Auburn, the seventh time in the year that USC has had three or more home runs in a game.

Brendan Winn went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI on Sunday … The home run for Winn was his 10th of the year … Winn also recorded two assists from the outfield in Sunday’s victory, tying a school single-game record for assists by an outfielder … The last USC player to record two assists from the outfield was Etienne Hightower vs. Vanderbilt on April 19, 1997.

Senior INF Steve Pearce leads Carolina at the plate with a .340 batting average as well as 12 HR and 37 RBI and currently owns a seven-game hitting streak … Eight of nine USC starters had at least one hit in Sunday’s game as well with Neil Giesler and Phil Disher both hitting their second home runs of the season as well.

South Carolina now leads the series history with Auburn 23-14 with six consecutive series victories over the Tigers dating back to the 1998 season (both teams did not meet in series in 2002 and 2003.

The Gamecocks return to action on Wednesday night with a non-conference tilt at Greenville Municipal Stadium vs. Furman … Carolina travels to Knoxville, Tenn. This weekend for a three-game series with the Tennessee Volunteers.
