DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Soon-to-be sophomore golfer Warren Thomas (Columbia, S.C.) is just one stroke off the lead through three rounds at the South Carolina State Amateur Championship, played at the Beresford Creek Course (7,073 yards, Par 72), Daniel Island Club. Thomas shot a 69 on Saturday and sits at 210 for the tournament, hot on the trail of leaders Stephen Poole and Timothy Chang, who are seven-under par (209) with 18 holes left to play.

Incoming freshmen Allen Koon of Bamberg, (72-74-69=215) and Baker Elmore of Cheraw, (64-76-75=215) are locked in a tie for 12th along with the 2004 State Am Champion and recent Carolina graduate Alex Hamilton (72-70-73=215).

Rising sophomore Mark Anderson of Beaufort is tied for 18th. The All-America turned in his best round of the tournament with a 69 on Saturday and is 72-76-69=217 through 54 holes.

2005 Carolina graduate Jake Thompson (71-70-79=220) and redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning (72-76-73=221) are also competing.
