ROCKY FACE, Ga. – The No. 12/16 South Carolina men’s golf team shot 292 as a team on Sunday and finished 14th in Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club (7,010 yards, Par 72). Freshman Baker Elmore hit a hole-in-one to highlight the final round for South Carolina.
Senior Eirik Johansen led the Gamecocks shot even-par (72) Sunday and wrapped up the tournament with a total score of 221. Johansen, who tied for 34th, has been Carolina’s top finisher in every tournament this fall.
Freshman Florian Fritsch was one stroke back of Johansen at 222 after also firing even-par 72 in the final round. Frtisch placed in a tied for 40th.
Freshman Mark Silvers also turned his best round of the tournament on Sunday with a one-over-par 73. Silvers finished with a total score of 224 and in a tie for 54th place. Elmore aced No. 11 and carded a 75 in the final round. With a total score of 222, Elmore tied for 79th. Sophomore Mark Anderson rounded out the Carolina lineup in 86th place. Anderson shot 78 on Sunday and finished the tournament with a total of 238.
Georgia State won the team title with a total score of 856, while SEC teams Florida (857) and Georgia (863) were second and third, respectively.
The Gamecocks have now concluded their fall schedule. The team opens its spring slate on Feb. 5 at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
