The South Carolina football squad continued preparations for Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. matchup against Florida with a 90-minute workout at the Bluff Road practice fields on Thursday. With a full stadium expected, fans are encouraged to come early. Following the practice, Gamecock Head Coach Steve Spurrier addressed the media:

“Just a reminder to the Carolina fans, loud when they’ve got the ball, quiet when we’ve got the ball. Remember that, quiet when we got it, as loud you want to be when they’ve got it.”

On the offensive line: “I think we’re going to play all three of those guys – (Thomas) Coleman, Jamon Meredith and Freddy Saint-Preux. So they’ll all three rotate throughout the game. Na’Shan (Goddard) can go to right tackle or right guard – he’s our swing guy.”

About the loss of Scott Morgan: “Nate Pepper is our snapper. He’s very good at it. No problem at all. He’s an excellent snapper.”

“We’ve had a decent week – about like always. We’re not trying to do anything differently. Same as always.”

About the possibility of going to a bowl game in Orlando: “If we could go to that bowl game in Orlando, we’d be doing cartwheels up here right now. Tennessee would be too. We can’t worry about that right now.”

On whether he’s saved anything for Florida: “We haven’t stayed on the field long enough to use all of our stuff. You put a little wrinkle in, but nothing major.”

What are you expecting from the Florida defense: “I’m expecting them to mix it up. Most teams mix their coverages when they play us.”

“We still feel like we can play a lot better. We realize we’ve been extremely fortunate to win two or three of these games. We’re going to try to get Blake (Mitchell) to hold onto the ball better. Defensively, we’re going to try to play our assignments better than we have, try to stop the run better than we have, we’ve got a lot of room for improvement on this team.”

“We’re very healthy. Cody Wells is the only one who’s not going to be able to play, but he’s the only one. Carlos (Thomas) is back. He’s ready to go.”
