USC Head Coach Susan Walvius
“I am proud of our team effort today. Our kids fought hard and we had a lot of opportunities. You really have to give a lot of credit to Kentucky. They came out and shot 60 percent in the second half, but I thought we had a good effort from our players. Demetress Adams played well. Stacy Booker’s shots were on and she ran the team for us.”
Regarding Turnovers: “We overthrew a few passes long. We’ve done that all year. We get anxious, have good transition looks, and get a turnover. I liked our team’s effort. I want them out and running, but you’ve got to protect the ball as well.”
Regarding Team Focus: “Our focus has to be defense and rebounding. That’s been our focus all year, and we didn’t do it tonight.”
Regarding Kentucky’s Balanced Attack: “We don’t necessarily match up with Kentucky well. Neither did Tennessee. We’re both taller teams, but they do a great job attacking the rim. They’ve got balance in that they have players that can attack the rim and finish, but they also shoot well from the perimeter. We had a lot of easy inside shots and couldn’t finish them.”
Regarding Post Play: “Physically I think Kentucky is stronger in the post. (Jennifer) Humphrey is physically strong and she took advantage of that today. You’d think that shooting 60 percent there’s not a lot of chances for rebounding. They got a lot of rebounds for the shooting percentage they had.”
Junior Guard Stacy Booker
Regarding Last Chance Shot: “Usually I know when it’s going in, and that one felt like it was in. In-and-outs are a killer.”
“It was a tough loss but we have to look to our next game coming up which is Florida. You just have to move on and prepare for the next game.”
Freshman Center Demetress Adams
Regarding Kentucky Forward Jennifer Humphrey: “She’s a really good post player. We’re going to have to work hard on our rebounding and post play.”
