ATHENS, Ga. – South Carolina swimmer Christy Williams earned honorable mention All-America honors after advancing to the finals of the 200 butterfly and finishing 16th at the Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday. USC totaled 27 points to finish 26th at the meet. Two of USC’s three participants at the Championships earned All-America honors. The Auburn Tigers came from behind after being down 53 points to win the title, their fourth in five years.

Williams advanced to the finals after swimming 1:59.47 in the 200-fly in the prelims. In the finals, Williams swam 2:00.03 to place 16th.

“Overall, this has been good experience for us,” said head coach Don Gibb. “This was the first time for Lindsey to be here and the fact that Christy earned All-America honors as a sophomore was really good. Allison Brennan’s performances were outstanding and carried us. We had three athletes here and two of them came away with All-America honors.”

Tiberio swam in the 200-breast in the prelims and failed to advance to the finals after recording a time of 2:18.46.

This marks the first All-America honor for Williams, and Brennan recorded her third and fourth.
