Philadelphia, Penn. – Former Gamecocks REALLY strutted their stuff at Penn Relays on Saturday as part of the USA vs. the World Championship series.

Former All-American Rodney Martin was the runner-up in the 100m to world record holder Asafa Powell, running a 10.24 in the event. Martin also ran a leg of the USA’s 4x100m relay that finished second in its heat and third overall at 38.78. Martin’s ‘Red’ relay also included Mardy Scales, Monzavous Edwards and Wallace Spearmon.

Former NCAA champion Lashinda Demus – who won a silver medal in the 400m hurdles at last year’s World Championships – ran the opening leg of the USA’s winning ‘Blue’ 4x400m relay, running a split of 51.5 as the relay finished at 3:23.51. Former volunteer coach and Columbia native Monique Hennagan (52.2) ran the second leg of the winning relay, taking the hand-off from Demus. Their team also included Monique Henderson and Sanya Richards.

On the men’s side, former NCAA champion and two-time Olympic medalist Otis Harris ran the third leg of the USA’s winning ‘Red’ 4x400m relay, running a split of 44.7 (fastest leg) as the USA won with a time of 3:00.09. Harris’ winning relay also included Tyree Washington (45.4), Derrick Brew (45.0) and Wallace Spearmon (45.0)

Former two-time NCAA champion and Olympic gold medalist Aleen Bailey ran the anchor leg of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay that finished third with a time of 43.87.
