Former South Carolina All-American Brett Quigley is among the 156-player field competing at this weekend’s U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Quigley has gained some momentum heading into the Open after winning a qualifier in Summit, N.J., at Canoe Brook Country Club. He finished 11-under par to claim a three-shot victory over the field.
Quigley has finished in the top-10 four times this season, including a tie for third at the Barclays Classic in Harrison, N.Y., and sharing fifth-place at the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head. His official money total currently stands at $1,193,450, good for 32nd on the Tour’s money list. Quigley has ranked in the top 100 on the money list four the last five years.
During his career at South Carolina, Quigley was a two-time Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar and a three-time All-Metro Conference selection (1989, 1990 and 1991). As a senior in 1991, the Barrington, R.I., native helped the Gamecocks to the Metro Conference Championship. He also earned honorable mention All-America honors and was named the team’s MVP. Quigley graduated from USC in 1991.
