COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team will compete in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center beginning Saturday. The center serves as host of the US Open, the final event of professional tennis’ four Grand Slam tournaments.

Representing the Gamecocks at the USTA Women’s Collegiate Invitational are seniors Laura Ganzer, Miranda Gutierrez and Christyn Lucas, juniors Grace Blakely and Megan McGavock, and freshman Ana Marija Zubori.

Ganzer and Lucas are both 2-1 this fall after playing in the Furman Fall Classic, while Gutierrez went 1-1 at the event. Zubori boasts a 3-0 record after winning her respective flight at Furman. Blakely and McGavock will be competing for the first time this fall.
