JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Freshman George Bryan IV (Chapin) finished tied for third and the South Carolina men’s golf team placed seventh in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Sunday. The Gamecocks fired a team total of 304-288-293=885 (+21) and finished ahead of three top-25 teams in the 15-team event, played at the par-72, 7147-yard Ridges Golf and Country Club.

Competing in his second collegiate event, Bryan entered the day four under par tied for first with 2005 champion and eventual 2006 champion Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State. He shot a final-round 75 and finished the tournament as one of only four golfers under par (71-69-75=215).

Junior Warren Thomas carded a 73 on the final 18 holes to finish tied for 37th. The Columbia native completed the tournament with scores of 80-72-73=225 (+9).

Sophomore Allen Koon (Bamberg) shot event par, his best round of the tournament and the low round of the day for the Gamecocks, to finish with a total score of 77-79-72=228 (+12). Koon and Gamecock freshman Paul Woodbury (Lake City) shared 54th place on the individual leader board. Woodbury, who played in his first collegiate event this weekend, posted a total 76-73-79=228 (+12).

Sophomore Mark Silvers (Savannah, Ga.) played solid golf in the final two rounds for the Gamecocks and wound up in a tie for 63rd. Silvers wrapped up the tournament with a total score of 84-74-73=231 (+15). South Carolina’s Garnet team will compete in the Coker Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday in Hartsville. Freshmen Patrick Rada and Bryan Miller, redshirt junior David Kite, sophomore Baker Elmore and reshirt sophomore Patrick Cunning will compete for the Gamecocks.
