Louisville, Ky. – South Carolina cross country wrapped up their 2006 season with a 21st-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday afternoon. The championship was hosted by the University of Louisville on their home course at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park.

The Gamecocks, placing three spots better than at last season`s championships, concluded the meet with 650 points and one runner in the top 100th in just their second 6K event of the season. South Carolina finished ahead of 10 schools, including Clemson, Furman, Winthrop and Wofford. North Carolina State claimed the title with 61 points and two runners in the top five.

Leading the Gamecocks was junior Rebecca Chain, who finished 99th with a time of 22:55. Sophomore Callie Rabun came in 129th with a time of 23:26, while senior Nicki Breves finished right behind at 131st with the same time. Also finishing for the Gamecocks were sophomores Casey Gale (23:47), Kelsey Bristol (23:58), Anna Petrov (24:20) and Laura Regensburg (24:41).
