COLUMBIA, S.C. —Players and coaches from the University of South Carolina men’s tennis team spent time at the Charles R. Drew Wellness Center in Columbia on Tuesday, Nov. 14, conducting tennis lessons at the Center’s Youth Fitness Club.

The Gamecocks, who concluded their fall schedule earlier this month, found time to visit the Drew Center’s after school fitness club this week. Senior Pedro Rodrigues, juniors Yevgeny Supeko and Joe Veeder, redshirt sophomore Thomas Stoddard and freshmen Pedro Campos, Spencer Feldman and David Wolff were joined by head coach Kent DeMars and assistant coach Jeff Kefalos. The group interacted with kids, teaching the basics of tennis and playing games inside on the Drew Center’s basketball court.

Every year, Carolina student-athletes from different athletic teams coordinate team projects by taking responsibility to serve as goodwill ambassadors not only for their respective programs, but also for the athletics department and the University of South Carolina as a whole. In addition, a number of student athletes elect to perform individual community service hours in a variety of areas. The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is committed to providing volunteer opportunities for student athletes to connect with people in the surrounding community. The greater Columbia community is invited to utilize members of Team Gamecocks to serve as role models and willing volunteers.
