Columbia, S.C. –
The South Carolina vs. Oklahoma women’s basketball game set to tip off at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Center will be televised live in the Midlands on CW47, which is Time Warner Cable channel 13 and Time Warner Digital channel 47, it was announced today.
Currently ranked No. 3 in this week’s polls, Oklahoma is the highest-ranked non-conference opponent to visit the Colonial Center since the building opened in 2002.
“The fact that CW47 chose to televise this game shows the interest in our community for Carolina women’s basketball,” Gamecock Sports Properties General Manager Liz McMillan said. “Coach Walvius and her team are committed to being the best by playing the best, and CW47 is showing the same kind of commitment by broadcasting this game throughout the Midlands.”
“We love partnering with USC and we felt like this was something we needed to do,” Bianca Crawford, Promotions Director at CW47 said. “Our main focus is women and we think this is something that our audience will enjoy.”
The game was originally going to be televised back to Oklahoma with a Cox Communications production crew and would have only been available to fans in South Carolina through ESPN’s Fullcourt package. With CW47 announcing its decision to pick up the game, it gives fans in Richland, Lexington, Orangeburg, Calhoun, Clarendon, Sumter, Lee, Kershaw, Fairfield, Newberry and Saluda counties the chance to watch the game through Time Warner Cable or even if they do not have cable, as CW47 is available on basic broadcast television as well.
Fans outside of the Midlands and Oklahoma can watch the game as part of ESPN’s Fullcourt plan. Contact your cable provider for details.
The Gamecocks knocked off No. 16 Minnesota at the Colonial Center last year and have won both of their last two regular-season televised games. The Sooners, meanwhile, enter Thursday’s game with a 20-game regular-season winning streak and boast arguably the best pure post player in the country in 6-foot-4 Courtney Paris.
