The University of South Carolina cheerleading team has advanced to the finals in the Division IA competition at the Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships, currently being held in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Gamecocks are one of eight schools that advanced through the preliminary round to reach the finals. The other schools competing for the top spot include Kansas State, Purdue, Texas Tech, North Carolina State, Clemson, Oklahoma State and Louisville.

The South Carolina cheerleaders work under the direction of Erika Goodwin.
