North Carolina State Team Notes
Jen Chamberlin extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the third inning. The streak is the longest streak for a Wolfpack player this season.
The four runs given up by pitcher Shaina Ervin were the most she allowed since giving up four runs against Maryland on April 28
South Carolina Team Notes
McKenna Hughes hit her 11th home run of the season with a shot over the left field fence. Her 11 homeruns make her the all-time single season leader, surpassing the 10 hit by Debralee Troesh in 2003. She currently sits as the all-time career leader with 33.
McKenna Hughes has made it on base in nine of the last 10 games, collecting 11 hits and six walks over the period.
Melissa Hendon recorded her third save of the season.
The Gamecocks recorded errors on consecutive plays in the third inning, allowing the Wolfpack to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead. The Gamecocks last committed two errors in the same inning when they committed two in the seventh inning against Mississippi State on April 1.
Jessica Josker hit a two-out, three run double to take the 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Josker, who was hitless in nine games before heading into postseason play, recorded her first RBI since collecting three against Kentucky on April 21. Her RBI single in the seventh was the difference in a 6-5 victory.
South Carolina will face Oregon at 1 p.m. Sunday in the championship game. Game seven will be played at 4 p.m. if necessary. South Carolina last reached the championship game in 2002 when they hosted the regional and faced off against UCLA.
