Columbia, S.C. –
The United States Tennis Association will hold the South Carolina Junior Hardcourt Championships starting this Saturday, June 23, and running through Thursday, June 28 here in Columbia. The Columbia Tennis Center, located on Whaley Street, will be the headquarters for the tournament, which features more than 350 boys and girls from around the state ages 10-18. The Tournament will feature both singles and doubles competition.

Starting time for the tournament will be 9 a.m. on Saturday with action beginning at 8 a.m. on each following day. Both the boys and girls 14, 16 and 18 age groups will play at the Columbia Tennis Center while the boys and girls 12s will play at the University of South Carolina’s Sam Daniel Tennis Facility on Heyward Street. The boys and girls 10s will play at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse located on Whaley Street.

Tournament format is best of three sets in all age groups except for the 10-year- olds, which will feature two sets with a 10-point tiebreaker being used for the third set if needed. Singles will be a full feed-in draw with consolations through the quarterfinals while doubles will feature a single elimination bracket with matches being determined by one eight-game pro set.
