SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – South Carolina women’s golfer Blythe Worley’s team holds a two shot lead at the 30th Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball Championship after firing a six-under 66 Tuesday at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club. Worley and partner Laura Crawford are the defending champions after setting a tournament record with a 129 (-15) in 2006.

Worley (Greenville, N.C.) and Crawford carded an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole and four birdies on the day. The duo also shot a first round 66 en route to the 2006 championship.

All players will begin play with a 9 a.m. shotgun start in Wednesday’s championship round.

Worley, a three-time NGCA All-American Scholar, recently participated in the 2007 Women’s East Amateur Championship, held in June at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia. She finished 15th in the 80-person field with a 76-72-76=244 (+8). Worley tied for 36th at the NCAA East Regional Championship and placed 10th at the SEC Championships with a career-best 220 (+4) to help lead the Gamecocks to a fourth place finish.
