COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sophomore libero Sarah Cline earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Cline has started 11 matches at libero and one other in the regular rotation for the Gamecocks in 2007 and leads the squad with her 294 digs and 3.50 digs per game average. The Rock Hill, S.C., native just matched the school record with 36 digs in the win over Arkansas. She also ranks sixth on the team in aces with 11.

She is the first Gamecock volleyball player to be selected for the honor since 2002, when Carolina had Sam Alban and Megan Hosp both earn spots on the third team.

Florida led all teams in the district with four honorees, three making the second team.

To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District, individuals must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career and have reached sophomore standing in both athletics and academics.

The Gamecocks hit the road to take on Kentucky on Friday night at 7 p.m. EST.
