COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Devan Downey tied his career high with 11 assists and set career bests with eight rebounds and six steals to help lead South Carolina to a 103-42 victory over The Citadel on Monday night.

The performance came just four days after Downey scored a career-high 27 points in the opener for the Gamecocks (2-0). Downey sat out last season after transferring from Cincinnati.

Downey also scored 11 points against The Citadel (1-1) while committing just two turnovers.

South Carolina scored 92 points in its first game, marking the first time since 1995 that the Gamecocks have had more than 90 points in back-to-back games. The 103 points Monday was the highest total since South Carolina beat The Citadel 112-61 in December 1995 and the first time the team had 100 points in nearly 11 years.

The 61-point win is the largest since the Gamecocks beat the Florence Stars by 66 in January 1948.

Brandis Raley-Ross led South Carolina with 13 points, while Zam Fredrick added 12 points and seven assists and Dominique Archie had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Demetrius Nelson led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Cameron Wells added 11 points.

The Citadel was down six with just under 11 minutes to go in the first half when South Carolina went on an 18-4 run. The Gamecocks would lead 46-22 at the break and opened the second half on a 16-3 run.
