South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius
“We had some good moments today and some not so good moments. I thought we missed some defensive assignments and some key rebounding situations at the end of the game.”
“I think you have to give a lot of credit to Kentucky. They fought and battled really hard. Our game with Kentucky is usually always a battle, whether it’s there or whether it’s here.”
“I thought Ashlie Billingslea played a few good moments today and you could see what she’s capable of.”
Demetress Adams• Jr. • Forward
“I think we have played well considering our tough schedule. We do have four losses, but we are confident that we can get back into that SEC competition.”
On the prospects for the team the rest of the season
“Even though we have lost key players like Lakesha (Tolliver), and Jordan (Jones) is continuing to get better, I know that our team has talent and will come out with some big wins in the SEC.”
On her play against Kentucky’s Sarah Elliott
“Before the game, coach let us know who we were matching up against. Our concept is to get the ball in the post and score. Part of my job is to call for the ball, but we still have a system. If coach wants someone else to get it, then that’s how it is going to be. Look at Ilona (Burgrova), she scored 15 points tonight. She definitely has the ability to take up that role.”
Jordan Jones • Fr. • Guard
On the prospects for the team the rest of the season
“We are going to get better. We can only go up from here.”
On switching between shooting guard and point guard throughout the season
“Going from a shooting guard to point guard is a bit of adjustment. If I’m covered, then I know Brionna Dickerson can get the job done. I am not running this team by myself. There are opportunities for other people to step up.”
