South Carolina’s track and field teams travel to Athens, Ga., this weekend for the Spec Town Relays. The Carolina men’s team is ranked No. 21 nationally in the first outdoor national poll of the year with Texas A&M’s men ranked No. 1 and the Arizona State women holding down the top spot on their side.

The Gamecocks will compete in the heptathlon and decathlon on Thurs., and Fri., April 10 and 11 before a number of other events on Friday evening and all day on Saturday.

South Carolina has eight women and its two relays qualified for the NCAA East Regional May 30-31 in Tallahassee, Fla. The men have 10 men and the 4x100m relay qualified for the same regional. The top five in each event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 11-14 in Des Moines, Iowa. Carolina hurdler Jason Ricardson clocked the second-fastest time in the world last weekend when he ran the NCAA leader at 13.45, topping the defending NCAA champion Ty Atkins at the line (13.47).
