Auburn, Ala. – After the first day of a rain-delayed SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Gamecocks have three multi-event athletes in position to score tomorrow. The heptathlon and the decathlon multi-event is a two-day event, which will run through Friday. The meet runs through Sun., May 18.
Kettiany Clarke is in fifth place after the first day of the heptathlon with 3114 points.
Curt McGill is in sixth place after the first day with 3,657 points.
Scott Pierce is in eighth place after the first day with 3,443 points.
Clarke was 12th overall in the 200m at 26.57 (748 points), fifth in the 100m hurdles at 13.80 (1007 points), tied for fifth hitting 5-3 in the high jump (736 points) and throwing the shot put 37’5 ¾ (623).
McGill was eighth overall in the 100m dash at 11.27 (801 points), 12th in the 400m dash at 53.43 (647 points), hit 6-1 ¼ in the high jump to finish tied for sixth (679 points), hit the pits at 22′ 4 ¼ in the long jump to finish with the fifth best jump (769 points) and threw the shot put 46′ 10 ¼ to finish third overall (745 points).
Pierce was 11th in the 100m at 11.46 (761 points), finished fourth in the 400m dash at 49.60 (833 points), was 10th in the high jump at 5′ 10 ¾ (627 points), No. 6 in the long jump at 21′ 7 ¼ (716 points) and No. 14 in the shot put at 33′ 11 ¼ (506 points).
