LAS VEGAS – South Carolina men’s tennis opened play at the Rebel Fall Invitational Thursday afternoon with a dominating doubles effort. On a windy day at Fertitta Tennis Complex, the Gamecocks claimed three of four doubles matches.

In Flight 1, Pedro Campos and Diego Cubas battled but could not get past UNLV’s Wesley Burrows and Attila Toth, dropping the set 8-6. Johannes Pulsfort and Ivan Machado led off the sweep of the next three flights, claiming an 8-6 win over Matthew Kunkel and Andrew Guiffrida of UNLV in Flight 2. The Gamecocks also got a 8-6 victory from Joseph Veeder and Thomas Stoddard, who knocked off the Rebels’ duo of Luca Balocchi and Bryan Miller in Flight 3. UNLV shuffled the lineup for Flight 4, pairing Toth and Kunkel, but the result was the same as David Wolff and Chris Sheehan picked up the 8-5 victory.
