COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team and the Columbia YMCA joined forces last Saturday to sponsor the 10th Annual C.A.P.S. (Child and Parent Soccer) Clinic at Stone Stadium on the South Carolina campus. The annual event, which benefits Children’s Chance, raised over $3,400 dollars this year as a record 108 children participated.
The annual clinic is geared towards parents and children being together to learn the game of soccer from the Gamecock coaching staff and team. Children were grouped according to age and ability, while parents were encouraged to participate and observe. Separate parental topics included rules of the game, introduction to basic skills and small group and team tactics used in the game of soccer.
