COLUMBIA, S.C. – Following their two-stroke victory over a strong field at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational, the South Carolina men’s golf team was named National Team of the Week by Golfweek, the publication announced Monday. The Gamecocks moved up to No. 10 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings after their victory, their second stint in the Top 10 this season.

Led by individual runner-up George Bryan IV, South Carolina held off North Carolina State and SEC foe Tennessee by two shots with the final result still in doubt until the final group holed out. The Gamecocks turned in a 2-under-par 286 in the final round to finish at 1-over for the tournament and grab their third tournament victory of the 2008-09 season.

South Carolina will return to action next Sunday, March 29, as they head down to the Lowcountry for the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw.
