BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major has announced the signing of Kelsey Stangebye to a national letter of intent to join the Gamecocks in the 2009-10 season. Kelsey is a Western rider from Geneva, Ill.

Kelsey has been active in the Illinois Quarter Horse Youth Association, spending time as Vice President (2008-09) and as Secretary (2007). She was also a staff member of the National Snaffle Bit Association World Show from 2006-08. In addition to service, Kelsey qualified for the 2009 American Quarter Horse Youth Association in horsemanship, showmanship and pleasure. She was the 2008 Gold Coast Circuit Champion in showmanship, the 2007 Region III Champion in showmanship and the 2005 Reserve Congress Champion. She also includes multiple all-arounds, circuit championships and year-end awards among her accomplishments.

Kelsey’s father is Christian Stangebye and her mother is Shawn Bolger.
