COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer has been named to the 2009 NSCAA All-South Region Second Team, while senior defender Tyler Ruthven has been named to the third team. The award marks the second for both individuals.

Maurer concluded his junior season with a 1.22 goals against average. He collected five shutouts on the year, and logged 1,702 minutes in net, every minute of the 2009 season. Maurer also collected 63 saves on the year.

Ruthven anchored the Gamecock defense, while scoring one goal and collecting one assist on the year. Ruthven’s goal was the game winner in Carolina’s 1-0 victory over George Mason competing at the annual adidas Gamecock Classic in mid-September. Ruthven concluded his Carolina career with two goals and two assists.
