Hey Gamecock Fans! This is April Borchardt, writing again to tell you about our weekend down in Boca Raton, Florida.
We started out the first game of the tournament slow. We didn’t come out with enough excitement, and we had a hard time hitting such a slow pitcher. She was the slowest we have seen so far, but as a batter we have to make adjustments at the plate. We did get the win and moved on to the next game. I would have to say that we had more fun in the Loyola game, winning 15-1. I think the main focus for us is to be more consistent this season, because we should have beat that team in five innings instead of seven.
The next day we had two close games. We fought hard in both games, but what we need to work on is getting ahead of the other team and not letting them come back like in the first game on Sunday. The last game against FAU was a battle. In extra innings, it came down to who could move the runner to third and come through with the run as well as playing sold defense. Well, the last play of the game was incredible, but the play went the other way for us. The game ended with a squeeze bunt by FAU and our team trying to tag the girl coming to the plate. It was a tough loss for us, and I hope it will bring out the fight even more for our upcoming games.
I can’t wait till we start conference games and see how much we fight for the win each game. Go Cocks!
