COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina continues the 2010 season with a 5 p.m. EDT tilt against USC Upstate on Tuesday at Beckham Field. Follow the action on Gametracker live stats or on Gamecock All-Access, with Brad Muller providing the play-by-play.

The Gamecocks enter the contest at 10-26 on the season, dropping their last seven, including four to ranked opponents. Junior Laura Mendes powers the lineup, as she leads the squad in eight different offensive categories.

The Spartans come back to Columbia with a 24-7 record after going 3-1 last weekend against Atlantic Sun rivals Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. Crislyn Chewning has been the offensive leader, topping Upstate in slugging and on-base percentage as well as in runs batted in. Morgan Childers has been nearly unhittable, posting a 0.62 ERA on the season. She’s struck out 261 hitters in 145.2 innings of work.

The squads have met just once in history, with South Carolina taking a 3-2 victory in the game on April 15, 2009.
