GAINESVILLE, Fla. – South Carolina got its final softball series of the year off to an inauspicious start, dropping a 20-0 decision to No. 6/5 Florida while not recording a hit in the five-inning game at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Two Gator pitchers combined for the no-hitter, as Stephanie Brombacher (27-5) tossed the first three innings, fanning three while walking two. Erin Schuppert came on to get the final six outs, fanning one while hitting one batter. Michelle Moultrie, Megan Bush, Tiffany DeFelice and Corrie Brooks, who all recorded three hits, led the Gators in the win.

A pair of home runs pushed seven runs across in the first for Florida before an out was recorded. Francesca Enea had a three-run shot that was followed by DeFelice’s grand slam. Kelsey Bruder made it 9-0 with a two-run homer in the second. Three Gators drove in runs while the bases were loaded to close out the second. Moulrie plated one with an infield single, Enea forced one in when she was hit by a pitch and Brittany Schutte got an RBI after a bases-loaded walk.

Five more Gator runs came across in the third. Aja Paculba got an RBI single, while Enea and Schutte both drew bases-loaded walks ahead of Bush’s two-RBI double. The Gators capped the scoring in the fourth with three runs, coming on singles by Brittany Walker, Schutte and Samantha Holle.

Gamecock junior Ashley Chastain (4-17) took the loss, allowing 12 earned runs on 11 hits and four walks in two innings. She struck out three.
