COLUMBIA, S.C.Mollie Patton from the South Carolina women’s soccer team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Patton led South Carolina to a pair of victories to open the season against Boston and Northeastern with consecutive shutouts. She earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her effort.

At the Gamecock Courtyard Classic, her only goal given up on the weekend came on a penalty kick. The Gamecocks lost to Louisville 1-0 but bounced back with a 2-0 triumph over Ohio.

Patton has a 0.25 goals against average and a 95.2 percent save percentage this season with three shutouts. She is now eight shutouts shy of tying the SEC record for career shutouts and nine short of setting it.
