The South Carolina Gamecocks (1-0, 0-0 SEC) returned to the Bluff Road practice fields Monday night as they continued preparations for Saturday’s high noon SEC showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0). The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

The biggest news coming out of Monday’s practice was senior Dion LeCorn moving from wide receiver to the defensive side of the ball. The 6-0, 211-pounder took reps at the Spur position on Monday. LeCorn came to South Carolina as a wide receiver, but made the transition to the Spur position midway through his sophomore year in 2008. He returned to wide receiver the following spring. The Gamecocks are a little thin at the Spur position as Antonio Allen remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. D.J. Swearinger also did not practice on Monday due to a mild concussion suffered in last Thursday’s win over Southern Miss.

The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Tuesday afternoon.
