South Carolina vs. Clemson Post-Game Notes (12/5/10)

TEAM NOTES

• The Gamecocks earned their first win over an ACC opponent since defeating Florida State, 69-68, on March 21, 2006 in the second round of the Postseason NIT Tournament in Columbia.
• South Carolina improves to 87-74 all-time in the series against Clemson. Carolina also moves to 53-27 against the Tigers in Columbia.
• South Carolina earns its first victory against Clemson since earning a 76-61 victory on the road on December 6, 2003. It is the first home victory against Clemson since a 76-59 win in Columbia on February 12, 2003.
• The South Carolina athletic teams are 11-4 in the 2010 calendar year against Clemson, including wins in football, baseball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
• For the first time since 1994, South Carolina has defeated Clemson in football, baseball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball all in the same calendar year.
• Clemson was held to a season-low 60 points for the second time this season. The Tigers were also held to 60 in a 61-60 loss to Old Dominion (Nov. 21).
• The loss ends Clemson’s school-record 12 consecutive road wins against non-conference opponents. The streak dated to the 2006 postseason when Clemson fell at Louisville.
• Four Gamecocks were in double figures for the third consecutive game. Reaching double figures against the Tigers were Malik Cooke (10), Sam Muldrow (13), Bruce Ellington (14) and Brian Richardson (12).
• South Carolina improved its winning streak to five games this season. The five-game winning streak ties the longest winning streak in the Darrin Horn era, who won five straight from December 2-23 in his first season (2008-09).
• South Carolina lost the rebounding margin for the first time this season (36-31). The Gamecocks out-rebounded every other opponent this season, making South Carolina and Auburn the only two SEC teams to do so before Sunday.
• The Gamecocks have used the same starting lineup in every game this season (Cook-Jackson-Muldrow-Richardson-Ellington).
• South Carolina had its best first half shooting performance of the season after shooting a 51.9 clip (14-for-27).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

#15 Malik Cooke
• Had a season high – and his highest mark as a Gamecock – with four steals in the game. His first two thefts came in the opening four minutes of the game. His final steal with 22 seconds remaining sealed the win for the Gamecocks.

#23 Bruce Ellington
• Has made a three-pionter in six consecutive games, finishing 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. It marks the second straight game that Ellington went 100% from the three-point line (1-for-1 against Delaware State).

#30 Lakeem Jackson
• Tied his season high with three steals.
• Tied his season high with four assists.

#44 Sam Muldrow
• Is now 62 blocks shy of the South Carolina all-time record that is held by Brandon Wallace (249). Muldrow had a season high with five blocks Sunday afternoon, marking the third straight game he’s rejected at least three shots.
• Tied his season high with one made three-point field goal. Muldrow, who finished 1-for-2 from beyond the arc, hit his first three-pointer since the Radford win. n Made a season high four free throws, going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in the win.

#2 Brian Richardson
• Has made a three-pointer in every game this season. Richardson finished the game shooting 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.
• Tied his career high with 12 points.
