COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina cross country team has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for the 10th consecutive year after posting a team GPA of 3.62 for the fall semester. The team GPA ranks 13th in the nation and second in the SEC, marking the fifth straight year the Gamecocks posted a team GPA in the national top 15.

Head cross country coach Stan Rosenthal’s team has consistently excelled in the classroom and has earned the All-Academic Team honor each of the past 10 seasons. Out of the 394 Division I institutions that sponsor cross country, Rosenthal’s teams were No. 14 in 2006, No. 6 in 2007, No. 1 in 2008 and No. 11 in 2009 before making the top 15 again this season.

To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams were required to compete and compile a team score in an NCAA Regional Meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.09. Ten Southeastern Conference teams received All-Academic Team honors with South Carolina ranking in the top three for the fifth straight season.
