CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – South Carolina swept the men’s and women’s 200-meter dashes at the Dick Taylor Relays on the campus of the University of North Carolina in the last meet before the SEC Outdoor Championships for the Gamecock track teams. Junior Kelsey McCorkle won the women’s 200-meter at 23.71, and sophomore Chris Maxwell won the men’s 200-meter at 21.27.

The women finished with four runner-up finishes at the meet. Lakya Brookins took second in the 100-meter dash, Scola Jepngetich took second in the 800-meter, Radiance Basden placed second in the triple jump and the 4×400-meter relay team took second at 3:46.00.

The men’s team finished with two runner-up finishes as Maxwell also took second in the 100-meter dash at 10.61. The men’s mile relay of Nejmi Burnside, Alex Loose, Eyong Oma and Nigel Redic placed second at 3:13.08.

South Carolina travels to Athens, Ga., next week to compete at the 2011 SEC Outdoor Championships at the University of Georgia.
