Nine University of South Carolina football players were named to the 2001 Coaches Preseason All-SEC teams, the Southeastern Conference office announced today.

Four Gamecocks earned first-team recognition, including sophomore running back Marcus Lattimore, junior wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, junior defensive end Devin Taylor and junior defensive back Stephon Gilmore.

Second-team selections include South Carolina senior quarterback Stephen Garcia, senior offensive lineman Rokevious Watkins and senior defensive end Melvin Ingram. Gamecock senior offensive lineman Kyle Nunn and senior defensive tackle Travian Robertson were named to the third team unit.

Arkansas led the way with 14 selections among the three teams selected by the coaches, with Alabama placing 13 members on the squads. South Carolina and Georgia were next with nine players each.
