A rising sophomore on South Carolina’s women’s golf team, Samantha Swinehart qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship this week. Her round of 75 at Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, placed her in the field.

The U.S. Women’s Amateur will take place on August 8-14 at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, R.I. It will be Swinehart’s first time at the event, which begins with two rounds of stroke play before the top 64 players continue on in match play to determine the champion.
