COLUMBIA, S.C. — Senior guard Markeshia Grant of the Gamecock women’s basketball team has been named the AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Grant led her team to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 with her 21 points in a win over #13/15 Purdue on Monday then closed her career with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, in Saturday’s loss to No. 2/2 Stanford. It was just the Gamecocks’ third appearance in the Sweet 16 in nine NCAA Tournaments in the program’s history.

With her late-season 3-point prowess, Grant finishes her career ranked sixth in school history in 3-point field goal percentage (.334) and her 64 made 3s this season were the 10th-most in school history. She was the team’s top scorer this season, averaging 11.1 points per game and posted 20 or more points six times.
