POWELL, Ohio — South Carolina senior Meredith Swanson and junior Samantha Swinehart teamed up to shoot a stellar round to open the Women’s Collegiate Team Championship on Tuesday at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club in Powell, Ohio.

Using an alternate shot format, Swanson and Swinehart posted an even-par 72 to finish the day in a tie for second place. The Gamecock teammates are three strokes back of the Notre Dame team of Ashley Armstrong and Kristina Nhim, who shot a 3-under 69 to take the lead.

Swanson and Swinehart, who make up one of 54 teams competing for the title, will be paired with Armstrong and Nhim for the second round and will tee off at 9:57 a.m. on Wednesday. The format for the round will be best ball. Live scoring will be available by clicking here.
