GREENVILLE, S.C. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team wrapped up play in the Furman Fall Classic on Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

In singles flight one, Jaklin Alawi suffered a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 loss to No. 26 Zoe De Bruycker from North Carolina in the consolation finals. Josefin Andersson lost in three sets in her match with Alabama’s Emily Zabor, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-0). Andersson’s scheduled opponent in flight two defaulted, as did Zabor’s in flight three, so the two played each other in an unflighted contest.

Ximena Siles Luna and Alex Martin both did not play their scheduled matches in flights three and four because of injuries.

Alawi and Dominika Kanakova will head west to the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships starting Sept. 29. Alawi will compete in doubles with Kanakova in the pre-qualifying tournament before playing in the qualifying draw for singles.
