WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — South Carolina’s Jaklin Alawi and Dominika Kanakova of the women’s tennis team lost 8-2 to Hanna Mar and Ester Goldfeld from Duke in the championship doubles match of the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Monday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Alawi and Kanakova finished the tournament with a 4-1 record and are now 7-4 for the season. The duo earned victories against teams from Wake Forest and Winthrop in the opening two rounds before capturing two wins versus tandems from North Carolina to reach the finals.

The Gamecocks will wrap up their fall competition slate at the UNM Fall Invite over Nov. 2-4 in Albuquerque, N.M.
