COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina senior Rylan Ridenour has been named the SEC Male Diver of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Ridenour won the honor after sweeping the boards in last Friday’s loss to top-ranked Florida. In his first meet of 2012, Ridenour cruised to a win on the 1-meter board with a score of 359.35, finishing 60.05 points ahead of the nearest Florida diver. Ridenour then won the 3-meter competition with a score of 396.60, besting the closest Gator by 48.37 points.

A native of Lebanon, Ind., Ridenour has now earned SEC Diver of the Week honors five times in his career.

Ridenour and the Gamecocks will return to action next Saturday with another challenging test as they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face Virginia. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
