The “Best Football Team in Gamecock History” will be recognized at halftime of the South Carolina-Vanderbilt men’s basketball game on Saturday, January 19. The game will tip at 1:47 p.m. ET at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.

Head football coach Steve Spurrier, who became the winningest coach in Carolina football history, and a host of players from the 2012 Outback Bowl championship squad are expected to be on hand, with the Head Ball Coach scheduled to address the crowd. Fans attending the contest will receive a souvenir card commemorating the Gamecocks’ back-to-back 11-win seasons.

The Gamecocks finished the 2012 campaign with an 11-2 record and ranked seventh in the Coaches’ poll and eighth in the Associated Press poll, the highest final rankings in school history. They matched their school-record with six SEC wins, and posted wins over four teams (Georgia, Clemson, Vanderbilt and Michigan) that finished among the nation’s top-25. The senior class posted the most wins (38) in a four-year period in school history. The season culminated with a 33-28 win over Michigan in the Outback Bowl.

Tickets for the basketball game remain on sale at the Colonial Life Arena box office, by calling 800-4SC-FANS or online at GamecocksOnline.com.
