COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina equestrian team fell two spots in the latest NCEA Coaches Poll, it was announced today. The Gamecocks are currently ranked sixth, as Carolina recently suffered back-to-back road losses at Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

The Gamecocks earned the No. 2 seed at the inaugural SEC Championship and will face No. 3 seed Georgia in the opening round on March 29 at the Auburn University Horse Center in Auburn, Ala. The winner will advance to the SEC Championship meet on March 30 to face the winner of Auburn/Texas A&M. The losing teams from both meets will compete for third-place in a consolation meet before the championship competition.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll. The final coaches poll of the season will be released on April 3 at Noon ET.
