PHILDELPHIA, Pa. – South Carolina’s 2003 shuttle hurdles team of Corey Taylor, Fred Townsend, Charles Ryan and Kenneth Ferguson are a part of the class of 2013 inductees to the Penn Relay Carnival Wall of Fame, the organization announced today. They are the first Gamecocks to earn the honor.

The quartet of Taylor, Townsend, Ryan and Ferguson ran 53.94 for the 4×120-yard distance, setting a still-standing collegiate record. The group was the perfect complement of four runners achieving more as a unit than as individuals.

A panel of Penn Relays experts selected four individuals and four relays to be honored. The sole restriction in the nomination process is that only retired athletes may be nominated and inductees are honored solely for their accomplishments at the Penn Relays.

This marks the 20th time the Penn Relay Carnival has added to the Wall of Fame, a Penn Relays tradition dating to the 100th running of the event in 1994.

The Gamecocks travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the 119th running of The Penn Relays April 25-27.
