CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
The Charlotte Sports Foundation today announced it has secured a regular season college football game for the city of Charlotte, pitting the University of North Carolina against the University of South Carolina. The Gamecocks will face off against the Tar Heels on September 5, 2015 at Bank of America Stadium. The kickoff time and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

At the press conference announcing the event, South Carolina won the toss and will be the home team and hold television rights for the contest. Each school will receive 12,500 tickets. South Carolina’s scheduled contest versus East Carolina for the 2015 campaign will be rescheduled for a later year, which is yet to be determined. The Gamecocks will have seven home games in 2015.

“We are extremely excited to bring these national football powers and regional rivals together in Charlotte for college football,” said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. “Both North Carolina and South Carolina have a strong alumni presence in the region. This will be a tremendous game featuring a marquee matchup of ACC and SEC teams. We look forward to hosting the Tar Heel and Gamecock teams and fans in Charlotte.”

The Charlotte Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization, runs the Belk Bowl and serves as the local organizing committee for the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game. The foundation’s mission is to create, recruit and execute high-caliber athletic events. In addition to adding new highly visible participatory events and elevating existing ones, the foundation also works to secure additional professional, collegiate and amateur events that will enrich Charlotte’s sports landscape.
