Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement…
It was a very big weekend for our team. Going in to the series I was extremely nervous because I knew Georgia was a better team than their record reflects. They have good players and they have some good pitching and as far as their starters they have good arms. I knew we were going to have some tough games but our kids played really good baseball for three games. We played about as good as we could play. We situational hit, we played defense, we were aggressive on the bases, we got two out hits and we were fortunate the ball bounced our way. As far as the game today, (Jack) Wynkoop gave us a chance even though we got behind 2-0. I think when we got behind was when he really pitched his best. I was very impressed with his fourth and fifth inning and I made up my mind going in to the game that if we got to the sixth inning with the chance to win I was turning it over to our seniors and that’s what we did. Joey (Pankake) was 3-for-3 and had another terrific game. He has been swinging the bat very well and playing good defense too. Grayson (Greiner) had a good day and I think the biggest hit of the game was Brison Celek. I am proud of our team for the weekend and I’m proud of the way they played today. They kept their composure when some things got a little feisty there and we played very well without our first-team (All SEC) guy and All-American candidate and a guy who has really carried us offensively (LB Dantzler), we played very well with him not in the lineup.

On how the team has played recently despite having some injuries…
It just safeguards you with the way we played this weekend from things that can happen on the road. We created a little cushion for ourselves because going to Mississippi State is not an easy task. They are very good at home and it is going to be a tall order for us to go down there and win the series, which we are going to try to do. We played really good baseball this weekend, we pitched well, turned double plays, and we ran the bases. We can surely do things better here and there but as far as putting together all facets of the game I thought we were very good this weekend.

Jack Wynkoop
On the first few innings…
I think I just struggled a little bit finding my stuff and finding the zone. I left a couple of pitches up and missed with the fastball a couple of times. I just had to adjust and get out in front and throw down in the zone from then on.

On the confidence the team has going into next weekend…
This weekend gave us a lot of confidence. It is good to get a sweep, next weekend is a big weekend for us and we are going to have to go in there focused and ready to go and I think we will have all of the confidence we need.

Joey Pankake
On getting the sweep and the confidence the team has…
We are feeling pretty good right now. We have a some confidence, we have won a few games and we are hitting the ball well as a team. We are also scoring some runs and I feel like our pitching is still doing their part.

On his offensiveperformance this weekend…
I’m pretty locked in right now and I’m feeling good at the plate and that is always a good thing going into a weekend when you need to win some games. I am just feeling really good right now.
