COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The South Carolina women’s track and field team returned to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings at the 22nd spot this week.

The No. 22 Gamecocks, one of six SEC teams in the top 25, boast the largest jump of the week after their stellar performance at the NCAA East Preliminary increased their point total from 35th to 22nd. South Carolina pushed nine of their 10 prelim entries to next week’s championships in Eugene, Ore.

It is the second appearance of the year after the Gamecocks were included in the rankings at No. 25 earlier in the season for two-straight weeks. It is also the highest ranking for South Carolina by the USTFCCCA since 2010, when the team climbed to No. 19.

The National Team Computer Rankings are a projection of how teams could fare at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The points system used in the computer rankings is not the same as the scoring system used at the NCAA Finals.

The 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
